Nowhere To Go

They tore down the old club
Where we met in the day
They’ve put it all down
And are letting it lay
They took out the drive-ins
And shut down the bars
The streets have been emptied
No cruisin’ cars
Roads lead to nowhere
A dead-end sign
Dropped off at the station
The end of the line
The old town’s not the same
As it was in the glow
Of red-neon heat
Now there’s nowhere to go
Nowhere to go-there’s nowhere to go
We’ve taken it right to the end don’t you know
Nowhere to go - Nowhere to go
What else can you do when there’s nowhere to go?
The banks have all failed
The doctor’s gone mad
The emergency room’s
Filing want ads
The butcher made off with
The baker’s dough
The candlestick maker’s
Taper burns low
I sit with an old pal
At the last joint in town
Listening to bottles
Make clinking sounds
Dance to the limbo
Wait for Godot
Here we are stuck
With nowhere to go
Nowhere to go -there’s nowhere to go
We’ve taken it right to the end don’t you know
Nowhere to go - Nowhere to go
What else can you do when there’s nowhere to go?
