Down on the borderline
The wind can blow quite strong
But you hardly ever notice
Till a calm spell comes along
Down on the borderline
Sometimes I get a fright
When on some cold, wet, rainy night
I find I should've turned left not right
Then a tall man will say,
"I fooled you that way
I get some every day
I tricked you into thinkin'
You were risin' but you really were sinkin'"
Now I know there's a devil
And I know he's awfully strong
And if you don't starve him
He'll take you right along
It's hard to be patient
Freezing, waitin' for the train
And so we leave the station
Go walkin' in the rain
Then a tall man says, "You can come inside"
But the girl says, "Please say goodbye"
Then runnin' back the train pulled out
But we caught her on the fly
Down on the borderline
Sometimes I get a fright
When on some cold, wet, rainy night
I find I should've turned left not right
Then a tall man will say,
"I fooled you that way
I get some every day
I tricked you into thinkin'
You were risin' but you really were sinkin'"
